Work Process and Role of the R&BD Foundation
Support fot Preliminary Venture Confirmation
- A prospective entrepreneur is confirmed for a prospective venture company after receiving an evaluation of business and technical feasibility from a venture business verification agency (the Technology Guarantee Fund and Small and Medium Business Corporation).
- Increase the preliminary venture confirmation rate by reviewing the technology business plan in advance. (Pre-view the technology business plan before applying online by forming a business cooperation network with the venture business verification agency.)
Cooperate with Laboratory EStablishment Approval
- When the relevant professor submits an official letter to the R&BD Foundation through the administrative office of the college, the university-industry cooperation team reviews the relevant laws and regulations and requests approval from the departments related to concurrent employment/use of building space/use of state property.
- Concurrent job permit (processing department: Office of Academic Affairs)
- Space use change approval (processing department: Office of Planning)
- State-owned property and paid use permit (processing department: Office of Financial Affairs)
- Laboratory factory installation approval (processing department: R&BD Foundation) - in case of manufacturing companies

Required Documents for Start-up Application
- A copy of the confirmation of preliminary venture start-up and start-up business proposal
- A copy of the request for approval of a faculty start-up concurrent position
- Faculty (department) head consent form included
- A copy of the application for permission to use and profit from state-owned property
- A copy of the statement of permission to use facilities and goods in the professor's lab
- A copy of the application for approval of laboratory factory installation (for manufacturing)
- A copy of the layout of manufacturing facilities
- A copy of the agreement
- Donate 2% or more of the holdings (payment for success)

Precautions Related to Faculty Start-up and Corporate Co-employment(Audit's Major Points of Note)
Precautions When Starting a Start-up as Faculty
- If a faculty member is concurrently working in a start-up company, s/he must obtain concurrent job approval (related department: Office of Academic Affairs).
- If a faculty member's start-up company intends to utilize invention related to workplace duties or a patent held by the R&BD Foundation, a technology transfer contract must be signed with the R&BD Foundation.
- In accordance with the 「Chonnam National University Faculty Startup Support Regulation」, startup by faculty must donate* at least 2% of the average stock held at during the period of adjunct/leave approval to the Chonnam National University Development Funds
* Department in charge: Office of Public Relations of the Office of Planning.
※ In case of continued participation in start-up after the 1st adjunct leave approval period, the faculty must donate additional 1% to the basic donation rate every two years.
Precautions When Joining a Company(Provision of Prohibition on Commercial Activities and Concurrent Employment)
- If a faculty member is concurrently employed by an external company, s/he must obtain concurrent employee approval (related department: Office of Academic Affairs).
- Application for extension of the concurrent employment period must be submitted every two years after the initial approval for concurrent employment (researcher → Office of Academic Affairs).
- Faculty members are not allowed to engage in commercial work or have concurrent positions without permission from the president.

Article 4 (Prohibition of Profit Business and Concurrent Employment) CNU faculty is not allowed to engage in business for the purpose of profit, including as those applicable to the following subparagraphs, and may not concurrently hold other duties without the permission of the president.- To engage in businesses that are clearly pursuing profit by self-managing commercial, industrial, financial, or other commercial business
- To become a member with unlimited liability, a manager, a promoter, or other type of executive who executes the direction and auditing of a business for any commercial, industrial, financial, or other private company for the purpose of profit
- To invest in other people's companies whose job is similar thereto
- To engage in any other business for the purpose of continuing profit gain except for cases where actual expenses such as transportation and conference costs are paid

Precautions for Adjunct Faculty Members When Applying for a Patent
- In the event that an adjunct faculty member of an external company (including a faculty-startup company) is included as an inventor and applies for a patent, it is necessary to report the invention as being the one related to workplace duties to the R&BD Foundation in advance (Any invention of an adjunct faculty member is considered a job-related invention, and the R&BD Foundation has authority to take over the rights to said invention).
